The Grand Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics
The opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics will showcase the best of the host nation. Apart from that it will also feature the parade of all the competing nations and the most anticipated event, the entrance of the Olympic Flame which will ignite the Cauldron and signal the start of the 2012 London Olympics.
The whole world will be eagerly waiting for the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The world will witness the artistic expression of Danny Boyle, the Artistic Director and his team along with the culture of the host city and the United Kingdom. Every Olympic Ceremony has to feature certain elements that are outlined by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) charter. After that the artistic performance gets underway and welcomes the whole world to the London Olympic Games.
The 2012 London Olympic Games will be named ‘Isles of Wonder’ the worldwide broadcast will start at 9 p.m. The sound of the largest harmonically tuned bell in Europe will signal the start of the Ceremony that will be produced by the Whitechapel Foundry. The whole stadium will be transformed in to a British countryside for the opening scene of the Olympics ‘Green and Pleasant’ and it will include real animals from the farmyard. On top of that there will be a special sequence celebrating the best of U.K and will feature performers from the NHS.
The head of the host country, her majesty the Queen will be greeted by the president of the IOC, Jacques Rogge. A procession of the participating teams in alphabetical order will enter the stadium apart from Greece who will enter the stadium first and the Host Nation Team of Great Britain who will enter last. After all the teams have arrived into the Stadium, Seb Coe the LOCOG chairman will give a speech followed by Jacques Rogge. The speeches will end with the declaration from the Head of the State for the Games to open. After the declaration, the Olympic Flag is carried to the stadium and hoisted in the air with the respective anthem playing in the background. An athlete, a coach and a judge from the host nation take the oath to compete and judge based on the rules of the Games.
The ultimate event of the Ceremony is the entrance of the Olympic Flame in to the stadium that is passed from the athletes to the final Torchbearer who will light up the Cauldron and begin the London 2012 Olympic Games. The flame will continue to burn for the entire period of the Games. There will be around 15,000 participants in the opening and closing ceremony of the Games that will be watched by an audience of around 4 billion.
